Job description

Project Manager – Public Infrastructure Delivery

We’re seeking a capable and motivated Project Manager to join a national-level infrastructure programme. This is a newly created role within a growing team that works across a range of impactful, publicly funded projects designed to support stronger, more resilient communities throughout New Zealand.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working across complex stakeholder environments, has a solid background in infrastructure delivery, and is ready to make a meaningful contribution to projects that matter.

About the Role -

In this role, you’ll support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects — spanning community assets, public utilities, and resilience-focused developments. You’ll be working closely with senior leaders, programme teams, and delivery partners to ensure projects are well-managed, on track, and delivering strong public outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Acting as the key point of contact for a range of assigned projects, engaging with delivery partners including councils, iwi, and developers.
  • Supporting delivery by monitoring project performance, ensuring contractual milestones are met, and proactively addressing risks.
  • Contributing to oversight, reporting, and assurance functions that help keep the broader programme on track.
  • Working across teams to identify insights, share learnings, and ensure public investment is delivering long-term value.
  • Supporting decision-making through clear communication, financial and performance analysis, and engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
This is a dynamic and varied role, best suited to someone who can move between strategy and detail, who is comfortable managing through uncertainty, and who brings sound judgement and initiative to their work.

About You -

You’ll bring a background in infrastructure or public works project delivery — with experience across civil, horizontal, or built environment projects. You’ll be confident working within funding or oversight environments, and skilled at navigating complex stakeholder relationships.

You’ll also bring:
  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or similar technical discipline.
  • A combination of commercial acumen, strategic leadership, and technical understanding of infrastructure delivery.
  • The ability to influence and engage stakeholders with different priorities, bringing them together to align on goals and get things done.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to report clearly and concisely.
  • A flexible, proactive mindset — someone who thrives in change and is energised by the chance to make a difference.
This is your chance to join a high-performing, purpose-driven team working on meaningful infrastructure projects across New Zealand. You’ll be contributing to initiatives that support better outcomes for people and communities, while building valuable experience in a national-level programme environment.
