Job description

Assemble Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading and well-established property business that specialises in commercial and industrial development across New Zealand. With a strong history of success and significant land holdings, they are well-positioned for further growth.

My client is seeking an operational and contractual management professional to enhance their property team. This person will play a pivotal role in acting as the central link between their clients, consultants, and construction teams to drive projects forward with confidence and clarity. This Project Delivery Manager will be based in Christchurch and will have a national remit.

As a Project Delivery Manager, you will:
  • Take ownership of a project after the legal agreements are signed and the concept designs agreed and act as the central figure who keeps everything - and everyone - on track.
  • Oversee the detailed design, consent and tender processes, and drive construction delivery, ensuring that the clients' expectations are not only met but exceeded.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate teams to manage budgets, and ensure milestones are met and every client interaction reflects our commitment to excellence.
  • Handle project variations and risks with professionalism and foresight.
  • Maintain accurate progress updates, budget forecasts, and client communication.
  • Ensure a smooth handover process and outstanding client experience.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A passion for commercial property development and project delivery.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – you're confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset – you enjoy understanding the “why” and navigating complexity.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret commercial contracts, ensuring clarity, risk mitigation, and mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties involved.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working with budgets and a willingness to grow your financial acumen.
  • Familiarity with MS Project or similar scheduling tools (or a readiness to learn quickly).
  • An understanding of construction processes, contracts, and compliance.
Why Apply?
  • You’ll play a central role in shaping high-quality development outcomes across commercial and industrial sectors.
  • Work with a well-established and reputable investment firm.
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Competitive remuneration package based on experience.
While experience in property, construction and or architecture is not essential, you will need exceptional attention to detail, the ability to think strategically, and the maturity to confidently manage multiple stakeholders.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated professional looking to expand their capabilities, take ownership of exciting builds, and grow alongside industry leaders in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
