A leading multidisciplinary consultancy that offers advisory, landscape architecture, quantity surveying, land development, construction monitoring, project management, planning, road safety, community facilities (parks and recreation facilities etc), civil engineering and procurement services is looking for a new 3 Waters Team Lead to join their Auckland team.

The role has come about as the current 3 Waters Team Lead has made an internal move to a Technical 3 waters role within the 3 Waters team. As such, the successful candidate will be able to tap into the wealth of knowledge the incumbent Team Lead possess but will also have the mandate to grow the team and to put their own stamp on the role.

With a broad mix of clients in the private and public sectors, deep relationships with council and Tier 1 Civil contractors, this consultancy is going from to strength to strength with no signs of slowing down.

You will join the advisory services team as a Team Leader and Senior 3 Waters specialist and will be responsible for the delivery of project management initiatives as well as providing technical expertise and leadership/mentorship. You will work on high profile projects, drive business development, and provide exceptional service to existing clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Leading the delivery of 3-Waters projects – from site assessment and design through to handover with the support of the wider team
  • People management – accountability / mentoring and coaching / leadership and technical support / performance and development / culture guidance.
  • Resource management – utilisation of the team / collaboration / forecasting.
  • Business development management.
  • Undertaking consultancy tasks for external and internal clients.
  • Reporting, business planning and forecasting.
  • Performing site inspections and assessing Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance performance of contractors in line with contract documents & current NZ HSE requirements.
  • Willingness to work remotely, positioned as a member of the Client’s team on secondment, as may be required from time to time.
  • Leading proposal preparation, job delivery, work planning and financial management tasks.
  • Providing guidance and support as a senior member of the Advisory Services Team.
  • Fostering strong relationships with clients, identify opportunities for engagements for the 3-Waters team and wider organisation.
  • Ensuring technical and quality requirements of work are met and maintained, including record-keeping.
  • Providing initiative and practical advice to identify solutions to job-specific challenges.
  • Maintaining appropriate, open, friendly relationships with clients, sub-consultants, and contractors.
  • Working towards / maintaining appropriate professional memberships.
  
Requirements:
  
  • You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline (Civil Engineering or similar).
  • Previous people leadership experience would be advantageous.
  • You will have at least 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager in the industry (3-Waters specialist), with a proven track record of delivering projects to time, budget, and specification.
  • You are a great communicator - both verbal and written - and are effective at establishing meaningful professional relationships.
  • You value being a part of a team that supports each other, and you take pride in the work you do.
  • You like to be highly organised and pay attention to detail – remaining mindful of the bigger picture.
