Job description

A newly created role with a busy contractor, to join as their Quantity Surveying Manager. This business delivers across light commercial and residential, comprising of a broad mix of housing typologies, including multi-bedroom units, 2-3 level walk ups, townhouses, stand-alone and terraced housing, and sub-division communities. 
  
With significant funding continuing to be injected into residential developments through both public and private sector clients, this QS team have a healthy and robust pipeline heading into the future. You will lead a team of 3 QS's, responsible for managing the financials of all projects through to profitable outcomes. This role will balance a hands on and high-level holistic approach to these developments, ensuring the QS team are well equipped and supported to ensure construction costs and production are managed as efficiently as possible. You will also work with in collaboration with the Operations Manager, to ensure successful running of the QS business.

Key responsibilities will include: 
  • Lead, develop and manage the QS team
  • Oversight across all project budgets, forecast and cashflow
  • Tendering of sub-trades and materials, taking ownership for driving that full process
  • Procurement of subcontractor and supplier agreements
  • Processing, negotiations and agreement of final accounts
  • Progress claims variations and payments
  • Attend monthly PCG meetings where required 
  • Managing relationships with Project Manager, Clients, Architects and other key Stakeholders
  • Working to keep the project on time and within the agreed budget
  • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, standards and building codes 
 
Ideal experience and skills: 
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • A strong track record in the NZ market
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel and preferably Microsoft project
  • Sound knowledge of the Residential construction industry
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and writing skills
  • Strong organisation skills and a proven ability of working in an efficient manner
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work in a team and negotiate win-win outcomes
  • A strong understanding of NZS3910 contracts
  • Existing right to work in New Zealand
