As a Senior Project Manager and the person responsible for the safe, timely and successful delivery of a significant portion of the programme, this person plays a key leadership role in the business, responsible for either:
  1. A single major project exceeding circa $200m in value,
  2. Multiple related projects with a combined value typically exceeding $200m or,
  3. Multiple projects with a combined value less than $200m, but with an unusually high level of complexity and risk (typically operational)
The role:
  • Lead and manage a defined project(s) across all stages to achieve the benefits expected of the project within performance targets.
  • Retain prime accountability for total project delivery, and application of consistent infrastructure methodologies.
  • Interact and collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, harnessing the client’s extensive network and industry relationships to drive project success.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, solve complex challenges, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions utilising the client’s robust risk management frameworks.
  • Facilitate high team engagement and commitment, provide clear measurement and feedback and champion a performance driven culture.
  • Champion a team environment which is customer-centric, establishes and maintains effective peer and stakeholder relationships and places emphasis on proactivity and optimal business outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of safety, excellence, and collaboration among project team members.
In order to be successful in this role, you will likely have the following skills and attributes:
  • Relevant tertiary degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
  • 10-15+ years of experience and a proven track record of successfully managing complex construction projects from inception to handover, projects ideally $100m+.
  • Extensive experience leading the full lifecycle of the project, from inception to commissioning, ideally in NZ (and overseas).
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of project delivery supply chains.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage optimal outcomes from diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive in finding and implementing practical solutions to technical problems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary teams.  
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
