With the establishment of the NZ business, Hines is looking to recruit a highly accomplished Senior Development Manager to help build and lead the development side of the business based in Auckland.  

Reporting to the Director of NZ, this critical hire will initiate, manage, and deliver all aspects of development projects. In addition, the role will involve identifying and supporting the acquisition of future developments in conjunction with the NZ Director. 

Key Accountabilities: 
  • Lead and oversee Hines development projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, scope and to the quality and safety standards required.
  • Help build and maintain key relationships with local authorities, consultants, contractors as well as internal stakeholders.
  • Analysing new development and investment opportunities. Ensuring Hines is offered opportunities to present proposals for potential development projects and effectively market proposals for leasing and investment.
  • Overseeing project feasibilities and cash flow forecasts.
  • Negotiating and overseeing detailed Development Agreements.
  • Management of consenting processes.
  • Ensure a robust risk management framework and methodology is applied across property development, to ensure that development project requirements are achieved.
  • Working closely with external stakeholders while managing the design, procurement, and delivery of projects.
  • Promoting a strong sense of team culture amongst staff and project participants.
  • Contributing to the wider Hines business as a senior member of the team.
  • Preparing Executive reports to support major investment and capital decisions.

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity the right candidate will have extensive Senior Development Management experience in the New Zealand market with a proven track record of success in commercial/industrial/mixed-use asset classes.This is suited to a self-starter who thrives in entrepreneurial environments. 

You will also have:

  • A qualification in property/business, or another relevant field i.e., Construction Management, Engineering, Planning, or finance.
  • Experience in a Senior Development role with demonstrated capability in identification, analysis, funding, management, and delivery of complex, multi-faceted, value adding development projects.
  • You must be highly numerate, with a strong understanding of development financial models.
  • Detailed understanding of the consenting process and legislation.
  • Proven track record of leading internal and external teams to successful development outcomes.
  • Highly effective with stakeholder management and building relationships at all levels.
  • A focus on continual improvement and accountability.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
