The Housing Foundation is a charitable trust that delivers affordable housing options for working New Zealand households who are finding it difficult to buy a secure, warm, dry home. Established in 2003, Housing Foundation has project managed the construction of over a 1000 homes and assisted hundreds of renting families become first time homeowners. Housing Foundation partners with government agencies, iwi. Maori organisations and community organisations in its mission to relieve poverty by providing or assisting with the provision of affordable housing for low-income persons and households in New Zealand.
  
With a growing development pipeline Housing Foundation is recruiting for a Senior Development Manager who will focus on growing its development programme and manage a small development team responsible for delivering a portfolio of housing projects from concept to completion.
  
The role will be reporting to the CEO and be instrumental in driving the successful delivery of projects mainly in Auckland and will also be elsewhere in New Zealand.
  
Key Accountabilities:  
  • Identify development opportunities that achieve Housing Foundation affordable housing mission
  • Manage multiple projects and consultants to deliver housing developments.
  • Manage the full cycle of development, from concept to defects liability.
  • Oversee and manage a team comprising of a Development Manager and Project Manager.
  • Create a neighbourhood and a place that households are proud to belong to.
  • Work with other community housing providers, Iwi, Māori Organisations, Government.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with all stakeholders – internal and external.
  • Ensure all employees and contractors understand and accept their responsibility to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Be responsible for ensuring our households and customers receive high-quality service.
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity the ideal candidate will have experience as a development manager across residential projects from:
  • Identifying possible development opportunities
  • Preparing feasibilities and assist in analysing new development opportunities.
  • Producing development feasibilities for viability.
  • Preparing and present for approval development and construction projects
  • Working closely with external stakeholders while managing the design, consent, procurement, of projects.
  • Managing the project programme and that all contractors and sub-contractors are working to timeframes set.
  • Prepare monthly development reports for Trustee meetings and attend Trustee meetings
Further essential skills and attributes as follows but not limited to: 
  • Relevant tertiary Qualification. 
  • Team management experience would be advantageous.
  • Extensive stakeholder management experience 
  • Innate commercial awareness 
  • Strategic thinking/problem solving.
