Job description

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that offers civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering services as well as geology and environmental sciences is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Whangarei office.
  
This role has come about due to a valued member of the team going on their OE.
  
This consultancy has almost 20 years of experience in the design and delivery of complex land development, infrastructure, and community focused projects across the commercial, industrial, residential, and rural asset classes for both private and public sector clients. Additionally, they’ve formed strong partnerships/client relationships with architects, survey, planning, landscape, and engineering consultancies.
  
This consultancy has 8 offices across the North Island and have a proud focus on social inclusion and participation, cultural and climate awareness (they pay particular attention to protecting the environmental and cultural integrity of the sites they work on and do “pro bono” work for ecosanctuaries and native restoration projects.
  
As well as this they have a close working relationship with Engineering New Zealand and strong affiliations with industry bodies like SiteSafe, wasteMINZ, SESOC and the NZ Coastal Society among others.
  
Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will get good exposure to other disciplines and will get to manage the full project life cycle form proposal right through to invoicing.
  
You will have the confidence to make important decisions and will manage clients and projects alike.

Additionally, you will be able to share your knowledge with more junior staff to assist in the career progression.

You will also be responsible for:
  • Liaising with clients and council
  • Afforded significant autonomy, you will operate independently with minimal supervision
  • Work on multiple tasks with changing priorities
  • Providing a keen eye for detail and a results focused approach
  • Strong numerical reasoning
  • Providing practical analytical skills and organisational awareness
  • Showing initiative and delivering results on time
Requirements:
  • Strong experience in land development design, preferably in Auckland/Northland
  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), NZCE or BEngTech
  • Strong knowledge of resource consenting requirements, as well as hydrology, stream works & mitigation
  • Knowledge of earthworks, roading, drainage, stormwater treatment and detention
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and MS Project
  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D preferred
  • Full driver’s licence
