Due to continued demand for their specialist services, this consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing Auckland-based team.

In this role, you will utilise your geotechnical expertise to contribute to the investigation, analysis, and design of ground engineering solutions across a variety of projects.

Working across diverse sectors including land development, commercial and industrial developments, infrastructure, environmental projects, and 3 waters, you will play a key role in delivering technically sound and practical geotechnical solutions while ensuring projects meet regulatory and client requirements.

You will work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams while gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of geotechnical engineering projects, from investigation through to design and construction support.
Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake site investigations and ground condition assessments
  • Supervise drilling programmes and assist with field investigations
  • Carry out geotechnical analysis including slope stability and liquefaction assessments
  • Contribute to the design of foundations, retaining structures and pavements
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations and geotechnical recommendations
  • Support construction monitoring and site inspections
  • Work closely with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Assist with troubleshooting and optimisation of geotechnical designs during project delivery
Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline
  • 4+ years’ experience in geotechnical engineering or engineering geology
  • Experience with site investigations and geotechnical reporting
  • Exposure to slope stability, liquefaction, or foundation design
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on New Zealand ground conditions is highly advantageous
