Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major Residential franchise as Quantity Surveyor. This business delivers across light commercial and residential, comprising of a broad mix of housing typologies, including one-bedroom+ units, townhouses, stand-alone and terraced housing, and sub-division communities.

The exciting part about this opportunity is it will see you often partnering with their sister development company, across both commercial and residential projects both with private developers, public sector and iwi groups. 

Key responsibilities will include: 
  • Contract administration.
  • Tendering of sub-trades and materials.
  • Measuring and take-offs.
  • Procurement of subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Cost control, budget monitoring and reporting.
  • Progress claims variations and payments.
  • Processing, negotiation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Managing relationships with project manager, clients, architects and other key stakeholders
  • Working to keep the project on time and within the agreed budget. 
  • Working with our Quality Surveyor team to ensure construction costs and production are managed as efficiently as possible.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations, standards and building codes. 
Ideal experience and skills: 
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
  • A strong track record in the NZ market.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, Excel and preferably Microsoft project.
  • Sound knowledge of the residential construction industry. 
  • Excellent numeracy, verbal and writing skills. 
  • Strong organization skills and a proven ability in work in an efficient manner
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work in a team and negotiate win-win outcomes.
  • A strong understanding of NZS3910 contracts.
  • Existing right to work in New Zealand.
