Gibbons Co consists of an experienced in-house development, cost and build team which allows them to control the cost, risk, time and quality of its developments through long standing and loyal relationships with suppliers.
As such Gibbons Co are looking to hire an experienced Quantity Surveying Manager to help grow and lead the quantity surveying team across existing and future developments in Auckland and Wellington.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a significant strategic hire for Gibbons Co as the role will require the individual to drive the delivery of projects from a cost and commercial management perspective as well as manage and mentor the existing team.

Responsibilities:
- Help build the QS function internally setting up and developing on the existing framework.
- Provide cost planning, tender reviews and cost reporting on construction projects.
- Contract administration.
- Subcontractor negotiations.
- Progress Claims.
- Tender evaluations, pricing/measurement.
- Liaising with designers, and contractors to ensure projects cost is being managed and within budget.
- Mitigating any risk through sound processes and value engineering.
- Build key relationships with local authorities, consultants, contractors as well as internal stakeholders.
You will also have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification majoring preferably in quantity surveying/construction economics and/or construction.
- Experience in commercial and/or residential would desirable.
- Capability to successfully lead and manage direct reports.
- Contacts with commercial subcontractors is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Complete comfort interfacing and managing all stakeholders including, contractors and consultancy partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to produce high quality reports.
