Job description

This specialist commercial property management company is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Project Manager. The successful candidate will be employed directly with the client for the duration of the construction to handover phase to lead the successful delivery of a high profile, complex and innovative social infrastructure project in the Waikato region. 

This rewarding project will provide an environment that enables individuals to be housed securely with the potential to change lives and shape futures including supporting greater connections with the community, family and whanau. 

This role provides you with a unique opportunity to build strong business relationships with multiple project disciplines, including investors, consultants, D&C and AM/FM contractors. 
  
Key responsibilities:
  • Act as a point of contact for the management of the project
  • Ensure completion of the project in a timely manner and within the budgetary limits 
  • Manage resources in conjunction with Managers  
  • Maintain, manage and document all project reports and statements 
  • Keep client informed of project progress and cost status 
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with the Project Agreement including project specific policies and procedures
  • Ensure procedures with the D&C Sub-Contractor are implemented and monitored
  • Monitor and report against the QA and H&S management plans
  • Attend and take minutes at project meetings
  • Escalation and resolution of critical matters in a timely and efficient manner
Qualifications and skills required: 
  • Appropriate professional qualification in Construction, Architecture or Engineering
  • Experience in delivering projects, with social infrastructure experience an advantage
  • High attention to detail with strong inter-personal and communication skills 
  • The ability to drive performance and productivity of contractors on site
  • Technical understanding of design and construction process
  • Good understanding of the NZ construction industry
  • Energetic and motivated by the challenge of Project delivery
  • Committed to the Project and willing to be located at the Project site
  • 2+ years' relevant experience
