The role
As Project Commercial Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading the commercial, contractual, and financial management of high-value construction projects. You’ll work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and your team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is a hands-on leadership role with exposure to a diverse project portfolio and strong potential for career growth into senior opportunities.

The role
As Project Commercial Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading the commercial, contractual, and financial management of high-value construction projects. You’ll work closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and your team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is a hands-on leadership role with exposure to a diverse project portfolio and strong potential for career growth into senior opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects from early design through to completion.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
- Oversee project budgets, forecasts, procurement, financial reporting, and risk management.
- Support tendering and pre-construction processes, including contract reviews, value engineering, and procurement strategies.
- Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, resolving disputes and ensuring successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to a safe, sustainable, and high-performing work environment.
- 7–10+ years’ experience in commercial management or quantity surveying within construction.
- Proven experience with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) or design & build contracts.
- Track record in managing large-scale projects, budgets, cost control, and contract administration.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Professional certifications (NZIQS, RICS, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
- A desire to grow into senior commercial leadership opportunities.
