National Infrastructure Funding and Financing (NIFF) is expanding their capability and is now looking for an Infrastructure Manager (Project Manager) to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in a national infrastructure funds programme, collaborating closely with Programme leads to ensure successful delivery across a diverse range of infrastructure assets - from cyclone recovery and flood protection, marae rebuilds and heritage buildings, drinking water and social and community assets.
This newly created role is part of a strategic plan to build a highly skilled, collaborative and adaptable delivery team to work across NIFF’s full suite of infrastructure funding programmes. With a focus on partnership, agility, and outcomes, we are looking for engineering qualified professionals who bring energy, credibility, and strong delivery nous — and who thrive working with diverse stakeholders to make things happen.

Cyclone Recovery Infrastructure Fund, Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF), Bridges and structures upgrades, Māori and Iwi-led Initiatives, Connectivity Infrastructure and Rural drinking water supply projects.
NIFF also facilitates funding and financing arrangements, giving them the tools to unlock private capital and deliver public infrastructure smarter and faster.
The Opportunity:
As an Infrastructure Manager (Project Manager), you will provide support to a portfolio of funded infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with the Chief Infrastructure Officer, internal Programme Leads, and delivery partners to ensure successful implementation and outcomes.
You will:
This role will support an array of different projects and be part of a collaborative team that can flex and pivot as needed. This role will ideally suit someone with a civil infrastructure delivery background (e.g. land development, three waters, transport, horizontal infrastructure and/or a structures or built environment background (e.g. bridges, heritage buildings, social infrastructure).
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will bring a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or similar technical discipline. You will also offer a combination of commercial acumen, strategic leadership, and technical understanding of infrastructure delivery.
You will have proven expertise in influencing and leading others, with the ability to engage, negotiate, and bring diverse stakeholders together to achieve common goals and deliver against the funds purpose. Adaptability is essential, enabling you to thrive in ambiguous and fast-changing environments while making sound decisions with limited information.
Exceptional communication skills will allow you to confidently present complex information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences. A solutions-focused mindset will drive you to proactively identify challenges, develop viable solutions, and implement them efficiently. Political savvy is also key, as you navigate political and organisational dynamics with confidence.
What matters most is your ability to adapt quickly, communicate clearly and build trust across the table, with a high level of energy and initiative.

- Serve as the primary contact for assigned projects, acting as the interface between NIFF and delivery entities (including councils, iwi, NGOs, and private developers).
- Oversee project delivery — typically by others — to ensure contractual compliance, milestone delivery, and effective fund utilisation. Engage early and often with project sponsors to proactively resolve delivery risks, ensure the right technical expertise is involved, and align on expectations.
- Support NIFF’s governance and oversight role by providing clear reporting, financial control, and delivery assurance.
- Collaborate across teams within NIFF and externally to share learnings, identify portfolio-level insights, and ensure their work continues to drive long-term value for communities.
