Role overview

The Head of Design and Delivery will oversee and manage a pipeline of retirement village and aged care construction projects from design through delivery and handover with capital expenditure in excess of $120m per annum. The role will see you working in a commercially minded, thriving business, with a humble and agile-minded team, with a great emphasis on autonomy and initiative.

Key responsibilities:
  • Accountable for the successful management of design and delivery of the project pipeline within agreed project KPIs in order to grow the business and delivery long term value
  • Motivate, coach and drive the performance of the design team, project management team, contractors and suppliers, through a safe, results orientated framework
  • Establish the most appropriate procurement structure for projects to mitigate risk and address current market issues (cost escalation, supply chain challenges, labour shortages)
  • Manage construction contracts and design process on multiple projects concurrently (up to 10 projects)

  • Promote a strong sense of team culture amongst staff and project participants
  • Prepare board and sub committee reporting and approval submissions
  • Provide financial governance of projects
  • Work closely with the Head of Development and Finance Team to prepare business cases for new projects
  • Drive and foster innovation with our supply chain including the use of technology, smarter ways of constructing, new materials, and better solutions
  • Take responsibility for the Health and Safety on live construction sites and ensuring all employees and contractors promote a safe and healthy workplace

Professional Experience and Skills
  • High aptitude and understanding of building construction
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering, architecture, planning or cost management
  • Experience in aged care assets or healthcare would be advantageous but not essential
  • Highly effective at stakeholder management and building relationships at all levels
  • Proven record of leading internal and external teams to successful project outcomes
  • An understanding of project feasibility and due-diligence and construction methodologies
  • A focus on continual improvement and accountability
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

This is both a challenging and rewarding position for the successful applicant. It’s a role for an astute, influential, and accomplished professional who would like to be part of delivering a significant pipeline of meaningful work for communities, focused on high-quality, sustainable projects.
