Job description

THE ROLE
  
This is a business-critical position for this consultancy and with a strong people focus, finding the right candidate is high on their priority list.
  
With a diverse range of clients across a range of asset classes and sectors they are in a strong position to weather any economic downturn and have a full pipeline of greenfield and brownfield land and site development projects.
  
With the Director of Civil Engineering retiring in the next few years an exciting opportunity presents itself for a Senior Engineer to come in and work on interesting projects, mentor Intermediate and Junior Engineers and to work through their professional development program through to Directorship where you’ll contribute to the Financial, Business Development, Operational and Management facets of the business.
  
SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have:
  • Strong design skills – CIVIL 3D would be advantageous.
  • Chartership would be a bonus but not essential.
  • A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering.
  • 7 + years of New Zealand Experience in the land development space.
  
On a day-to-day basis the role has been broken down into four areas:
  
Financially – You will:
  • Be part of the management team to achieve Budget Contribution on a Divisional, Company and Individual level.
  • Get Involvement in Debtor Management.
  • Work with the Director and be actively involved in developing the annual business plans and the implementation.
  Business Development and Clients – You will:
  • Manage a portfolio of existing clients.
  • Actively identify new clients to grow and maintain the business in line with Business plans.
  • Continue to develop relationship to existing client base.
Operationally – You will:   
  • Take ownership of QA - to ensure you are implementing and carrying out the documented QA procedure.
  • Manage the resources on projects.
  • Ensure jobs are delivered on time and to standard.
  • Help staff delivering and meet clients’ expectations/deadlines.
  • Oversee the Cost Management of jobs to make sure they are completed within budget.
Strategically and Managerially – You will:   
  • Be an active member of the Management team. Allocate functions/key tasks that staff they are to co-ordinate and report on.
  • Manage Risk - to ensure areas of risk are raised and processes are in place to minimize risk.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the company as a whole.
  • Ensure you deliver and communicate within the agreed timelines/and effectively.
  • Be involved in the long-term strategies for the company.
  • Uphold the company Values.

  • Being put through Directors courses
  • A seriously competitive remuneration package including a base salary of $150,000 to $200,000(depending on the candidate) a company call for full use and a $15,000 annual bonus upon agreed KPI’s.
  • The opportunity to purchase equity in the business. Over time it’s expected that Directors can acquire between 10 – 15% equity within the business with a strong record of good returns.
