Civil Branch Manager

Job description

Based in Christchurch, this role of Branch Manager will play a key role in supporting and leading the Canterbury operations for a leading civil construction contractor. This contractor has already kicked off the year with strong momentum, supported by a healthy pipeline of work across the region. 
  
You will be managing operations across the Canterbury region whilst developing and mentoring a team of project managers and engineers. Additionally, you will be involved in fostering client relationships across local government, land development, and commercial civil developments.
  
This role could suit someone seeking professional development and that next step in their managerial / operational career. Ideally, you will be well connected within the Canterbury market, however, this is not essential, we are open to people wanting to relocate to Christchurch.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Mentor and support project teams, strengthening capability, ownership, and performance.
  • Manage and align resources across projects to safeguard schedules and delivery outcomes.
  • Set strong planning practices covering programmes, resourcing, risk management, and reporting.
  • Monitor commercial and cost performance, enabling proactive action where risks emerge.
  • Champion a strong safety-first culture.
Qualification & Skills:
  • Proven experience in project management, contracts management, or similar within the civil sector.
  • A leadership style that builds people up.
  • Experience managing and motivating teams to achieve a shared goal.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
