Job description

Oyster is a leading New Zealand commercial property and fund manager and is recognised as a market leader in sourcing and structuring property funds and capital raising. They also manage a range of retail, office, and industrial assets throughout New Zealand. At Oyster, they are committed to Transforming Property Investment Together and it is this vision that sits at the core of everything they do. Their Values are what guide their culture, their day-to-day interactions with their investors, tenants, contractors, each other and how they deliver on their vision – we are One TeamLeadersCourageous and Ethical.

This newly created Capital Partnerships role is a key appointment for Oyster as they continue their growth trajectory. In this role you will drive their acquisitions strategy in relation to Capital Partner relationships. You will manage deal origination and structuring and will drive the successful acquisition and divestment of capital partnership assets, relative to business plan.

With $2 Billion AUM currently, and projected growth of a further $1 Billion in the next couple of years, the targets for these types of transactions are only limited by the supply of deals that match with capital partners investment profiles. With several key capital partnership relationships already established, this role will see you originate and pair investment opportunities that work with capital partners investment profiles, while simultaneously forging new relationships and driving the ongoing management of these investments through Oyster’s asset management platform.

To be successful in this role you should be able to demonstrate the following:
  • A NZ recognised tertiary degree in Property or Finance (e.g., Economics, Property, Valuations, Finance, Commerce/Business)
  • 10 years prior experience within the Property or Finance sectors
  • Possess a high financial aptitude, commercial acumen, and ability to analyse financial data from budgets, business plans and valuations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to produce high-quality reports, analysis, and presentations under tight deadlines
  • Strong numerical reasoning and well-developed financial modelling skills with an understanding and working knowledge of deal structuring
  • Previous exposure to joint ventures with private equity, institutional capital, and family office investors
  • Adaptability and a strong self-drive for results

Opportunities with this scope supported by very motivated and well credentialled employer don’t frequent the market very often. If you are looking for entry into a direct investment platform within the property market this is a fantastic opportunity to achieve that objective.
