Associate - Investment

Job description

A leading APAC-based alternative investment manager with broad appetite in real estate and corporate credit are looking for an Associate to join their NZ office in Auckland.  The role is principally focused on originating, executing and managing private debt investments, particularly in the property and development finance space.
  
This is a fantastic opportunity to form part of the manager’s foundation team on the ground in NZ, supported by significant deployable capital.  You will report to and work closely with a highly experienced local head.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with originating, executing and managing private debt and other investments, particularly in the property and development finance space.
  • Assisting with analysing and executing new credit investments, including commercial due diligence and analysis with internal and external resources, and negotiation of legal documents with internal and external counsel;
  • Assist with portfolio and asset management and monitoring
  • Regular interaction and knowledge sharing with the Australian and Hong Kong Credit and Markets teams.
Specific skills required include:
  • A tertiary degree in finance, accounting, property, economics or similar
  • 4yrs + experience as a property or corporate finance analyst covering debt or equity investments
  • Advanced modelling and report writing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A natural affinity for relationship building
  • A genuine enthusiasm to learn
This role will have you embedded in an investment management business that has been a large scale and highly active investor across the Asia Pacific region for many years. They are long on the growth potential for their debt investment position in this country so you can expect to cover a lot of action across the NZ property development sector. Beyond the NZ platform you’ll be joining a multi-national business that encourages growth and movement from within.
