Job description

HFH Property Limited (HFH) is a property investment and management business, a wholly owned subsidiary of Single Family Office (SFO) entity Higgins Family Holdings Limited. With the Family office located in Palmerston North the HFH property business sits alongside the SFO’s operational businesses in ready mixed concrete and quarrying.

HFH owns, develops and manages a nationwide, largely industrial use, property portfolio, including a sizeable component of excellent development land located in the North Island.

The property business has a clear objective to continue growing via development and acquisition which requires an increasingly sophisticated asset and development management function to manage the SFO’s property interests.

To drive this objective, HFH is recruiting for an Asset Manager.

Based in Palmerston North, the Asset Manager will manage a diverse portfolio of property assets to ensure optimal long-term performance through optimisation of occupancy and lease terms, ensuring net rental return and capital growth are maximised, robust asset maintenance, active development is undertaken where required, and ensuring the properties comply with all local body, government, and statutory requirements.

This role will report into the General Manager – Property and will work with the HFH management entity to continue to develop the property strategy and values of the SFO while leading long term profitable growth. You will work as part of the HFH team based in Palmerston North and will assisting in growing both the capability of the business and its reputation with stakeholders.

Key attributes HFH is looking for include, but are not limited to:
  • Preferred tertiary qualification, ideally a bachelor's degree with emphasis in property or related subject.
  • 7 years' + experience in commercial real estate with the ability to demonstrate excellent asset management knowledge. Experience in other core related areas such as commercial leasing, valuation, and development management would be a bonus.
  • Strong experience in lease transactions incorporating rent reviews and lease renewals.
  • A desire to build your skills in property development and delivery nationally.
  • A passion for real estate with a good understanding of feasibility and property investment fundamentals.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills for working on a variety of duties.
  • A highly customer/client-focused individual who strives for excellence.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work autonomous on key aspects of asset management.
A combination of factors makes this a fantastic career opportunity with the SFO Principals who have a long and storied history of business success; strong capital support; a high quality and encouraging board/Property sub-committee; a superb portfolio of assets (considerable industrial land with massive development add value upside), and a growing property investment entity.  All in a location that offers a fantastic work/life balance.

If this role is piquing your interest, and you feel you would be a good fit for the business and its long-term objectives, we’d be very keen to engage with you.
