Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

Job description

The Company
A newly formed boutique construction consultancy is officially launching into the Central Otago market in 2026, and this is a rare opportunity to be part of this success story and journey.

Backed by three highly regarded local construction professionals with backgrounds across development, project management and cost management, this business has already secured work and is entering the market with momentum, credibility and a clear point of difference. Based out of a brand-new Wanaka office, the consultancy will deliver a high-quality, end-to-end service from feasibility through to completion, working closely with private developers across subdivisions, townhouses and medium-density residential, hospitality and tourism projects, and high-end residential developments.

The Role
With a brand new office in Wanaka, they are looking to bring an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor on board to work closely with a Senior QS as the business launches and grows. This role will suit someone with 4+ years’ experience, either from a main contractor or PQS background, who enjoys variety and taking real ownership of their work. You’ll be exposed to the full project lifecycle and play a key role in shaping systems and processes as the business scales.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Cost planning, feasibility and early-stage estimating
  • Take-offs and detailed pricing
  • Funding and bank QS reporting
  • Engineer to the Contract services
  • Contractor claims, progress payments and final accounts
  • Candidates strong on the contractor side (claims, take-offs) or the consultancy side (claim assessments, reporting) will both be well considered.
The chance to join a business at launch, not years down the track, where your ideas will be heard. You will have direct access to senior leadership, meaningful career progression, and a future shareholding opportunity for someone who proves themselves and wants to grow with the business.

This is an ideal role for a QS who wants more than just another job - someone excited by building something, being close to decision-making, and delivering quality outcomes in one of New Zealand’s most desirable regions.
