Civil Construction Manager | Land Development

Job description

Based in Christchurch, this role of Civil Construction / Land Development Manager will play a key role in leading the South Island operations for a leading private civil construction contractor.
  
Managing the full lifecycle of contract management, this role will be critical in driving the performance and positioning of the business for success, developing and mentoring a team of contract managers and engineers, and whilst fostering client relationships primarily across land development projects. 
  
Reporting directly into the South Island General Manager, together we are seeking a candidate that is ambitious and driven, who wants to be an aspirational leader, and is actively looking for professional development and that next step in their general management / operational career.
  
Ideally, you will be well connected within the Canterbury market, however, this is not essential, we are open to people wanting to relocate to Christchurch.

This role would suit an established Senior Project Manager with a strong background in successfully delivering land development projects wanting to step up into general management. Or would suit an already established civil manager looking to align themselves with a high performing company with a strong pipeline looking to excel. 
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and report on contract financials.
  • Lead negotiations and manage contracts from inception to completion.
  • Identify and mitigate contract risks.
  • Mentor and develop a team of contract managers and engineers.
  • Work alongside different stakeholders both externally and internally.
  • Ensure all contractual activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and strategic objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management, law, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Proven experience in senior level contract or business unit management within the civil or infrastructure sector.
  • Strong negotiation skills and financial acumen.
  • Understanding of contract law, dispute resolutions, and risk management.
