Job description

Our client, a prominent leader in the construction industry, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their prestigious team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the success of major interior fit-out projects across Auckland. 

The motivators around this role is to inject further experience and knowledge into an already well-established and performing team, to have enough capacity internally to continue on their successful growth path. With that in mind, this role does have the opportunity to be scoped into a Commercial Manager position for the right candidate. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership in cost management, ensuring optimal financial performance on all interior fit-out projects.
  • Lead the preparation and negotiation of tender and contract documents, driving best-value procurement strategies.
  • Oversee complex project portfolios of varying values, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and risk management frameworks. 
  • Deliver comprehensive financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis to support executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with senior management and project teams to identify and capitalise on cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships across a diverse range of projects, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Mentor and develop junior quantity surveying staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contractors and stakeholders to enhance project outcomes.
The ideal candidate: 
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying.
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally within interior fit-out projects; carpentry is also advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of New Zealand construction practices, regulations, and standards.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Proven track record in delivering projects within budget and on time, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, high-value projects and multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Personality fit will be someone outgoing, confident and social.
