A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that offers civil engineering, environmental engineering and surveying services is looking for a Senior Associate Civil Engineer to work closely with their renowned South Island Regional Manager to rebuild and expand their Civil Engineering services in Queenstown and the South Island.
  
This consultancy has almost 20 years of experience in the design and delivery of land development projects across the public and private sectors with a long list of successfully completed brownfield and greenfield land development including but not limited to Luxury residential golf developments, Rural lifestyle developments, the development of infrastructure and town squares for council development arms, public walkways, and community facilities for councils around New Zealand.
  
With in house expertise in planning, this consultancy has a great relationship with council and their engineers and surveyors are renowned for their resource consent expertise.
  
Their civil engineering, environmental engineering, planning, and surveying teams all work together closely to provide their clients with tailored and synergised solutions to their problems. As such the Senior Associate Civil Engineer will get great exposure to a multitude of disciplines within the broader land development, civil engineering, planning, and surveying fields across the picturesque South Island.

Responsibilities:

You'll be leading a team of 2 engineers and will be responsible for plans, designs, management and directing of civil engineering projects, such as roading, three waters and general civil, with an emphasis on
hydrology.
  
Reporting into the South Island regional manager who has a proven track record in business development you will support the wider Civil engineering teams and will bring a proven track record of leadership and business acumen in addition to technical expertise.
  
CPeng/Chartership as well as Civil Engineering qualifications are essential.
  
You will be a member of the Senior Leadership team, supervise project staff as required and oversee office expenses and marketing spend. You will report your progress accordingly in agreement with management.
  
On a day-to-day basis this will be made up of:
  
  • Project Planning and Design: Plan, design, and direct civil engineering and surveying projects, utilizing topographical and geologic data.
  • Documentation: Prepare or direct the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and environmental impact studies.
  • Cost Analysis: Calculate costs and assess project feasibility based on engineering analysis.
  • Construction Oversight: Inspect construction sites, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Team Management: Manage the Queenstown team, providing mentorship, quality assurance, and training.
  • Business Development: Assist the Business Development Manager in marketing, proposal preparation, and project acquisition.
  • Technical Leadership: Direct technical staff, apply best practice tools, and execute quality assurance responsibilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Engineering or New Zealand Certificate in Engineering
  • CPEng/Chartership
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Experience working on a variety of local projects, solid understanding of NZ standards and best practice
  • Hydrological expertise
  • Construction and supervision experience
  • Working knowledge and experience
    of NZ3910 Conditions and Contract.
  • AutoCAD and /or 12D knowledge or experience preferrable
  • Knowledge of the design process and solid understanding of engineering standards and best practice.
