Senior Project Manager

Job description

This is not just another Senior PM role.

It’s an opportunity to step into a key leadership position within a highly regarded, privately owned construction business with a strong pipeline and an even stronger reputation for delivery.

With continued growth across the central North Island, the business is investing in establishing a new regional presence, and they need a commercially sharp, relationship-driven Senior Project Manager to lead from the front.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of project delivery while also playing a critical role in shaping the future of the region through local business development. This is a hands-on leadership role with a clear pathway into a Regional / Area Manager position over time.

You’ll be:
  • Leading projects end-to-end across a diverse portfolio (education, retirement, commercial and potentially healthcare)
  • Acting as the face of the business locally, building relationships and generating opportunities
  • Driving business development, leveraging your network and identifying new work streams
  • Working closely with senior leadership on strategy, pipeline and growth
  • Helping establish and grow a high-performing regional presence
This role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, influence, and being trusted to make things happen.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a well-rounded Senior Project Manager who brings both delivery excellence and commercial instinct.

You’ll likely have:
  • Proven experience delivering construction projects as a Senior PM (contractor or client-side)
  • Strong commercial acumen - understanding how to price, position and win work
  • A track record of building and maintaining client relationships
  • The ability to demonstrate an established network across the Waikato / Central North Island (A must)
  • The ability to operate at both project level and strategic level
  • A natural leadership style that aligns with a down-to-earth, values-driven culture
Experience across education and retirement sectors will be desirable however connections and a local network in healthcare is also advantageous.

Why This Role Stands Out
  • Clear pathway into Regional / Area Management
  • Opportunity to build something and make it your own
  • Strong support from an established national business
  • Autonomy and trust - no micromanagement
  • Solid project pipeline with room to grow it further
