Senior Project Engineer

Job description

Our client is a well respected civil contractor who has built their reputation on delivering technically demanding, high quality projects. This is an opportunity to join their team and begin working on major infrastructure projects in Canterbury as a Senior Project Engineer. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Take ownership of engineering planning to ensure the project programme remains on schedule.
  • Manage the coordination of site activities, resources and subcontractors to drive efficient project delivery.
  • Mentor and support engineers and supervisors, setting clear direction and expectations across the team.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety standards throughout all project stages.
  • Track project risks, costs and progress, supporting accurate reporting and forward planning.
What you'll bring: 
  • A relevant engineering qualification, backed by proven experience on large-scale or complex civil projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction methodologies, with the ability to translate this into practical, on-the-ground solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and support teams, with a calm, inclusive and clear communication style.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sound commercial and technical judgement across cost, programme, quality and risk.
  • A team-focused mindset, with the ability to build positive working relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Resilient and proactive, with the confidence to navigate uncertainty and bring clarity to complex situations.
